RE/MAX expands brokerage brand

RE/MAX International registered 383 new franchise sales as of June 30, 2004, marking a 17.5 percent increase year-to-date over 2003 and setting a record for the first six months of any year in the network’s 31-year history.

The company experienced the largest expansion in the United States, with a total of 206 new franchise sales. There were 27 new franchises reported in California, which edged out the New England region’s 26 sales and the Central Atlantic/Eastern Pennsylvania/Delaware region’s 25.

Other countries with strong growth include Israel with 17, Spain at 14 and Southern Africa with 13 new franchises.

“We anticipate this will be the best year ever for RE/MAX franchise expansion,” said Peter Gilmour, RE/MAX vice president of franchise sales.

Gilmour joined the RE/MAX International staff in March 2003 as director of franchise sales and was promoted to vice president of franchise sales in December 2003. He and his wife, Val, who serves as manager of franchise sales services, are both natives of South Africa and together successfully developed RE/MAX of Southern Africa as its co-founders in 1995.

The RE/MAX franchise network is a global real estate system operating in 51 countries through 4,964 independently owned offices and more than 93,000 member sales associates.
