Home shoppers walk the streets of New York

Renters and prospective home buyers in New York City now can walk through the city streets online when looking for real estate. CityRealty.com, an online residential real estate exchange focused on New York City, introduced block-by-block interactive maps as part of its Web site re-launch.

The company added a search function called the “Luxury Condo Finder” that allows people to move through a map as if they were walking the streets to find luxury condos at their actual location.

CityRealty.com also expanded its interactive condominium and coop search function to enable people to locate these types of properties by neighborhood, type, price and number of bedrooms, among other features.

The new features are designed to help people looking for places to live online in pinpointing exactly where properties are located, since neighborhoods often change block by block in an urban setting. Available properties are marked by red stars on the maps.

CityRealty connects buyers and sellers with brokers. The company currently has a network of more than 500 brokers and more than 100,000 consumers, according to Jeff Cannon, a spokesperson for CityRealty. CityRealty.com’s exchange allows brokers to find and electronically contact pre-qualified buyers and renters whose preferences match their own exclusives. Brokers pay a referral fee when they close a sale with a consumer from the Web site.

In addition, the new resources section of CityRealty.com provides buyers, sellers and renters with step-by-step information about the New York City real estate market. It also provides information about moving, finance, types of property and living in the city.
