New wireless real estate device hits market

The PocketSurferWeb viewer is the latest technology to offer wireless Web access for palm devices to the real estate industry. The product provides Internet access to home listing data, including photos, maps and directions.

Along with accessing Multiple Listing Service data, the device enables access to mortgage information, financial calculators, mapping information and e-mail.

The PocketSurferWeb viewer, developed by DataWind, provides access to unlimited live and continually updated Web-based MLS data from anywhere across the country, without the need for complicated daily “hot-synching,” or being limited to a select few MLS locations.

The PocketSurferWeb viewer uses patented technology and features a larger color, 640-pixel screen. The product boasts access to the Web in its original HTML content, with the original layout and full graphics in seconds. The device uses Bluetooth wireless technology to connect to a wireless handset.

Montreal-based DataWind is a developer of wireless Web access devices and services.
