Major real estate merger in Southern California

Century 21 Award and Century 21 Superstars, among the largest franchises in the Century 21 system, have announced a merger agreement that creates one of largest real estate companies in the nation. Both companies will continue to operate under their existing names, building upon the rich traditions and identities that have been developed through the years.

Combined, Superstars and Award have 20 sales offices in San Diego, Orange and Riverside counties. The firm’s Southern California locations encompass 12,000 square miles geographically and serve a population base in excess of 7 million. With more than 1,300 active agents licensed to the companies, the two firms have accounted for more than $4 billion in residential sales activity during the past 12 months.

“This merger will add significant depth and additional energy to the operations of each firm,” said Philip Romero, CEO of Award and Superstars. “We intend to honor the history and name recognition each enjoys by preserving their existing brands.”

He added, “We believe this move will benefit our agents and our clients by significantly strengthening our position in a highly competitive marketplace.”

As of Oct. 31, 30 of the top 100 Century 21 agents in the Southern California/Hawaii region were identified with Award or Superstars, according to Century 21 Corp. statistics.
