What are your current or childhood nicknames?

None that I would put in print.

Which daily newspaper do you read and which section of the newspaper do you read first?

The Wall Street Journal, second section first.

What’s the most unusual thing you’ve ever packed in a suitcase?

An audio system. In my early days as a national speaker for Realtor.com, I packed a complete audio system so I could do multimedia presentations in rooms that were not equipped for it.

What kind of music do you listen to?

Jimmy Buffett. But my oldest son is a symphony musician, so I’m developing an appreciation for classical.

What style of home do you live in and when did you buy it?

A two-story lakefront home, built circa 1921, with redundant high-speed Internet connections (cable/DSL).

Where did you spend your last vacation?

I live on a lake, where would I go? After 10 years of nearly nonstop travel, I’m enjoying vacations at home for a while.

What professional accomplishment in your life are you most proud of?

In LeadRouter, Roy Rainey and I have developed a tool that is helping to redefine real estate in the Internet era, enhancing the consumer’s experience and letting brokers get real value from the new medium.

What personal accomplishment in your life are you most proud of?

Helping my wife raise two great kids, Zac and Ken.

How many e-mail addresses do you have?

Scores of them. To fight spam, I use a unique address for every Web site at which I register. If the address is misused, I know who was responsible.

What worries keep you awake at night?

The only worry that was keeping me awake disappeared after the November election.

What lesson did you learn in the last year?

If you build it, they will come…though it can take awhile before they get here.

What is your favorite technology device or software application?

Aside from our own products, DNCsentry, LeadPhone and LeadRouter, my current favorites are the HP Tablet PC, the Fujitsu ScanSnap 5110 pdf scanner, and satellite radio.

What is your opinion of Inman News?

It has been a daily “must-read” for me since the Internet became a meaningful factor in real estate nearly 10 years ago.

What was the best gift you ever received from or gave to someone else?

From my parents, I received the gift of self-confidence.

What was your top New Year’s resolution and have you kept it so far?

Didn’t make one.

Are you a morning person or a night owl?

Mornings.

What is your worst vice or bad habit?

Too many to list.
