Alternative real estate franchise model grows

Help-U-Sell Real Estate reportedly ranked #15 in Entrepreneur Magazine’s list of the 20 Fastest Growing Franchises in America. The company also said it moved from 98 to 44 on the magazine’s Franchise 500 list.

Help-U-Sell Real Estate’s fee-for-service model allows sellers to select and pay for only the services they want, making it the middle ground between the “For Sale By Owner Model” where sellers do all of the work and pay nothing and traditional brokers that do everything and charge upwards of 6 percent of the sale of the home.

In January, the company announced it grew its franchise network by 40 percent in 2004, ending the year with 700 offices nationwide, up from 500 at the beginning of the year.

Help-U-Sell has grown its franchises 780 percent since 1999, and company president Rick O’Neil said he expects the company to have 1,800 franchises by 2008.

Ann Reynolds, vice president of franchise sales for Help-U-Sell said the company’s set-fee concept “has been ahead of the curve for years.”

“Today’s consumer is Internet savvy and more of a do-it-yourselfer, but realizes the value of professional assistance in the process,” she added.
