Overnight real estate rates remain scattered

Long-term mortgage interest rates were mixed again Tuesday, and the benchmark 10-year Treasury bond yield sank to 4.23 percent.

The 30-year fixed-rate average climbed to 5.33 percent, and the 15-year fixed-rate remained at 4.91 percent. The 1-year adjustable was up at 3.75 percent.

The 30-year Treasury bond yield dipped to 4.45 percent.

Mortgage rate figures are according to Bankrate.com, which publishes nightly averages based on its survey of 4,000 banks in 50 states. Points on these mortgages range from zero to 3.5.

In other economic news, the Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 16.71 points, or 0.16 percent, finishing at 10,579.77. The Nasdaq gained 9.25 points, or 0.43 percent, closing at 2,166.74.
