Real estate: The week ahead

  • The 10th Annual Western States Loan Servicing Conference is slated for Aug. 7-9, in Las Vegas. The event, produced by the California Mortgage Bankers Association, brings together loan servicers for panel discussions focusing on servicing issues, as well as an exhibit hall where companies display their products and services.
  • Appraisal Today, the 2005 national conference for real estate appraisers, is slated for Aug. 10-13, in South San Francisco. The conference targets appraisers at all levels of experience and offers education on industry changes, new forms and technology.
  • The Urban Land Institute will hold a national conference on Construction Fundamentals for Development Professionals, Aug. 8-9, in Seattle. The two-day workshop is designed for real estate developers at all levels in both public and private sectors and provides education on the basics of building systems, delivery methods, construction sequencing, and more.
  • KnowledgePlex and the Housing Assistance Council will host an online discussion on rural rental housing preservation on Aug. 9, from 2-3:30 p.m., eastern time. The discussion will feature four guest experts who will talk about current resources available to preserve rural units’ physical structures, sustain rental affordability, and protect tenants from rent increases. Panelists also will touch on program and policy recommendations that would preserve affordable rental homes.
