Comcast lands more space in Philly

Binswanger has negotiated the lease of an additional 338,000 square feet on behalf of Comcast Corp. at the future Comcast Center to be located at 1701 John F. Kennedy Blvd. in Philadelphia.

The value of the transaction was not disclosed.

Comcast, a provider of cable, entertainment and communications products, already committed to a 15 1/2-year lease of 534,000 square feet in Comcast Center in January of this year and will now occupy a total of 900,000 square feet of class A office space.

Construction on the 57-story, 975-foot tower is currently underway and is expected to reach completion by fall 2007. This new headquarters will total 1.2 million square feet and will include research and development laboratories, technology demonstration areas, a conference center, a fully serviced employee cafeteria and Comcast University. The building will be unique in that it will feature both on-site parking, a tie-in to the commuter rail station and retail opportunities, including a major new food court.

Liberty Property Trust, which owns a portfolio encompassing 60 million square feet of office and industrial properties, is the property landlord.

Philadelphia-based Binswanger is an international, full-service real estate organization.
