GlobeXplorer acquires aerial imagery provider

GlobeXplorer, a provider of geographic data to real estate and other industries, has acquired a 100 percent interest in AirPhotoUSA LLC, the company said Monday.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The purchase will combine GlobeXplorer’s earth imagery and property information Web services and AirPhotoUSA’s aerial map production for a set of land information products.

“Customers are demanding more powerful and cost-effective options for making imagery and maps part of their business and personal lives,” said Rob Shanks, GlobeXplorer’s president.

Both companies will remain focused on their core capabilities, while leveraging the strengths of each other’s spatial data products and services. Working within the Real Estate Information division of Stewart Information Services Corp., GlobeXplorer’s integration of AirPhotoUSA will be seen inside several nationwide and international initiatives.

GlobeXplorer and AirPhotoUSA will remain based in their home offices of Walnut Creek, Calif., and Phoenix, Ariz., respectively.

GlobeXplorer, a geographic data integration and publishing company, offers customers the ability to retrieve imagery as needed and integrate images into Web applications, mapping and geographic information systems or internal business processes. The company’s image library is distributed over the Internet using a propriety platform that searches, retrieves, compacts and delivers images within seconds.
