Yahoo! exec. has deep roots in online media biz

Jamie Glenn joined Yahoo! in August 2003 to work as director of product management for Yahoo! Real Estate & Classifieds, which brings together information and services on a variety of home-related topics.

At Yahoo!, Glenn is responsible for the overall real estate and classifieds product strategy and development in addition to content acquisition and advertising partnerships.

Before joining Yahoo!, Glenn worked as a business manager at Knight Ridder Digital, the online subsidiary of Knight Ridder. He was responsible for the online real estate and classified business for 28 newspaper Web sites.

Before Knight Ridder, Glenn spent a number of years working for Arthur Andersen LLP, where he was a manager in Business Advisory Services and assisted clients in mergers and acquisitions, initial public offerings and business consulting engagements.

Here are his answers to a set of questions posed by Inman News:

What type of home did you grow up in and where?

A single-family home in Mountain View, Calif.

What style of home do you live in today and when did you buy it?

My wife and I braved the crazy San Francisco Bay Area housing market and purchased a contemporary home in November 2004.

What worries keep you awake at night?

The safety and security of my family.

Describe your dream home:

Spanish-style villa overlooking the ocean.

What was your first job?

Working in the fast-food industry like most teenagers.

What would your second career choice be?

Owner of a scuba dive shop in the Caribbean.

Which daily newspaper do you read and which section do you read first?

San Jose Mercury News; I usually start with the business or sports sections.

Where did you spend your last vacation?

My wife and I spent three weeks this summer in Italy and Greece.

What professional accomplishment are you most proud of?

Helping to create products that help people navigate the home-buying process.

What is your favorite technology device?

Palm Treo — hard to live without it.

What kind of music do you listen to?

I listen to almost anything except for country music.
