Leadership guru sheds light on new real estate business models

Kenneth Jenny is no stranger to leadership and innovation in the real estate industry. For more than 25 years he’s worked with leading, growth-oriented organizations to innovate, design and execute effective business solutions.

Jenny currently is CEO and managing partner of tranCen.com, a residential brokerage services company, and holds a long list of executive titles with prominent real estate firms such as Prudential Real Estate Affiliates and Coldwell Banker.

The executive has contributed to many real estate books and is a well-known speaker within the industry.

Jenny will speak during Real Estate Connect in New York City, Jan. 11-13, 2006.

Here are his answers to a set of questions posed by Inman News:

What kind of house did you grow up in and where?

A small ranch home in the hills of then rural San Mateo County, Calif.

What style of home do you live in today and when did you buy it?

A townhome purchased new in 1987.

What worries keep you awake at night?

Everyday – not to make too much out of nothing.

Describe your dream home:

I own it: a second home in the majestic mountains of Park City, Utah.

What lesson did you learn in the last year?

It’s never too late – for anything.

What’s the strangest thing you ever packed in a suitcase?

A frozen Thanksgiving turkey – it’s a long story.

Who is your hero?

My brother, a former U.S. Air Force fighter pilot who was decorated with the Silver Star in the Desert Storm war.

What was your first job?

Residential real estate construction.

What would your second career choice be after real estate?

Executive film producer — the more creative the better.

Which daily newspaper do you read and which section do you read first?

The New York Times cover-to-cover, business first.

Where did you spend your last vacation?

In Hawaii at the Ritz Carlton, Kapalua.

What professional accomplishment are you most proud of?

Leading the team at Prudential Real Estate Affiliates that created The Prudential Advantage network support program.

What is your favorite technology devices or software application?

The iPod — the more gigs the better; I need the space.

What kind of music do you listen to?

Everything. Name it and I probably have it and like it. I have more than 700 CDs in all.
