Marketing guru to talk Internet innovation in real estate

Ginny Cain McMurtrie is the vice president and director of marketing for Alain Pinel Realtors, based in the San Francisco Bay Area. She supports the company’s expansion throughout the region and manages all of the company’s marketing initiatives.

McMurtrie previously served as vice president and director of marketing for Prudential California, Nevada and Texas Realty. Prior to her time at Prudential, she was vice president of marketing for the mortgage banking division of Mortgage.com and director of marketing for IMX.com, which provided an automated mortgage-pricing engine to mortgage brokers nationwide.

She started her real estate marketing career in the 1990 as manager of public relations for Coldwell Banker in Northern California.

Here are her answers to a set of questions posed by Inman News:

What type of home did you grow up in and where?

I was raised in a single-story, 1,300-square-foot home in Duncan, Okla.

What style of home do you live in today and when did you buy it?

I live in a 1,500-square-foot, ranch style home in Pleasanton, Calif., purchased in 1995.

What worries keep you awake at night?

Not much keeps me up at night, but it would probably be whatever projects I happen to be working on that have the most immediate deadline.

Describe your dream home:

A flat above a market street in the 17th arrondisement in Paris.

What’s the strangest thing you ever packed in a suitcase?

Dumbbells or free weights.

What was your first job?

Working in the dry goods store in a town of 3,200 for my family.

What would your second career choice be after real estate?

Chanteuse.

Which daily newspaper do you read and which section do you read first?

Wall Street Journal, Marketplace section.

Where did you spend your last vacation?

U.S. Virgin Islands, St. Thomas, St. John and St. Croix.

What kind of music do you listen to?

Right now I’m into the new Madonna mix.
