ENeighborhoods exec. has roots in real estate technology

Real estate technology and software is no new thing for Greg Robertson, who serves as executive vice president of eNeighborhoods. He oversees sales and marketing of all the company’s products and services, which include real estate technology and marketing.

Robertson joined eNeighborhoods in 2003, and previously was one of the founding partners of IRIS, a real estate software company that launched in 1992. He was responsible for the sales and marketing of IRIS’ “Lightning” software brand, and built a network of resellers including the top real estate associations and multiple listing service providers in the country.

Robertson and his partners sold IRIS to HomeSeekers.com in middle of 2000, and he continued to work as their director of sales and marketing.

Robertson remains active in the MLS community and currently serves as a director of The Council of MLS, an MLS industry trade organization. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in electronic engineering technology.

Here are his answers to a set of questions posed by Inman News:

What type of home did you grow up in and where?

We lived in a mobile home in Renton, Wash.

What style of home do you live in today and when did you buy it?

I live in a spacious single-story, five-bedroom home with a swimming pool in Boca Raton, Fla. It’s in a gated community called Boca Isles. Every community here is named “Boca” –something: Boca Greens, Boca Pointe, Boca Vista, Boca Woods, etc.

What worries keep you awake at night?

No worries. My one-year-old son, Cole, sometimes wakes me up.

Describe your dream home:

My dream home would be close to all my family, friends and work. 

What lesson did you learn in the last year?

As a new father, most of the lessons I’ve learned this past year concern bodily fluids.

What’s the strangest thing you ever packed in a suitcase?

Workout clothes.

Who are your heroes?

My parents.

What was your first job?

I was a busboy at a Bonanza Steakhouse in San Antonio, Texas. I still have my first pay stub.

 What would your second career choice be after real estate?

Something creative in film or music. I also like to write.

Which daily newspaper do you read and which section do you read first?

New York Times online. I usually read the technology section first.

Where did you spend your last vacation?

Seattle with my parents for Thanksgiving.

What professional accomplishment are you most proud of?

In 2000, my first company, IRIS, made the “Inc. 500” list (at no. 192) as one of the fastest growing private companies in the country. The magazine thought we had an interesting story and featured us in a four-page story in the “Inc. 500” issue. ENeighborhoods also made the “Inc. 500” list this year at no. 84.

What are your favorite technology devices or software applications?

TiVo, iPod and eNeighborhoods’ CMA.

What kind of music do you listen to?

Pretty much everything, including jazz, hip-hop, rock and alternative. My favorite artists include John Coltrane, Sting, Prince, U2 and Radiohead.
