Rent.com offers $100 reward to students using apartment-finding service

Apartment listing site Rent.com now offers a college housing search feature specifically designed to help new-to-market student renters find an apartment, the company said today.

College students looking to relocate between semesters can search Rent.com for apartments near more than 4,000 universities nationwide and also receive a $100 incentive for using the service.

The search-by-university feature pinpoints registered apartment properties near universities and aims to help budget-conscious students find the best location to live at the most affordable rate.

“At no cost, students can use our search-by-university feature to save time and money by comparing apartments and rental rates from more than 5.1 million apartments,” said Scott Ingraham, president of Rent.com. “If they choose one of our listed apartments and let us know, we will reward them with a $100 Visa reward card to spend wherever and however they like — sent to them when their lease is verified.”

Rent.com is an eBay company. The site’s latest search-by-university listing service joins two of the company’s other online services aimed at college students: Roommates, an online roommate finder, and the site’s Moving Center, which provides free links to moving-resource service providers.

The Roommates service is free to register and search, and also offers students free messaging and listings.

Moving Center provides hot links to service providers for credit reports, moving quotes, moving supplies, truck rental, storage – even short-term housing and a job-finding service. The site also provides links to rental insurance providers, utility information, home improvement services, and even information on local dating.

Rent.com has more than 5.1 million apartment unites and 22,000 property listings in more than 1,500 real estate markets nationwide.
