Overnight real estate rates climb

Long-term mortgage interest rates were higher on Monday, and the benchmark 10-year Treasury bond yield decreased to 4.95 percent.

The 30-year fixed-rate average edged up to 6.07 percent, and the 15-year fixed-rate increased to 5.76 percent. The 1-year adjustable also increased to 5.2 percent.

The 30-year Treasury bond yield decreased to 5.02 percent.

Mortgage rate figures are according to Bankrate.com, which publishes nightly averages based on its survey of 4,000 banks in 50 states. Points on these mortgages range from zero to 3.5.

In other economic news, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 21.29 points, or 0.19 percent, finishing at 11,141.33. The Nasdaq lost 5.75 points, or 0.25 percent, closing at 2,333.27.
