Overnight real estate rates decline

Long-term mortgage interest rates were lower Monday, and the benchmark 10-year Treasury bond yield fell to 5.04 percent.

The 30-year fixed-rate average slipped to 6.18 percent, and the 15-year fixed-rate dropped to 5.85 percent. The 1-year adjustable dipped to 5.28 percent.

The 30-year Treasury bond yield slid to 5.13 percent.

Mortgage rate figures are according to Bankrate.com, which publishes nightly averages based on its survey of 4,000 banks in 50 states. Points on these mortgages range from zero to 3.5.

In other economic news, the Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 18.73 points, or 0.17 percent, finishing at 11,125.33. The Nasdaq dropped 21.03 points, or 0.96 percent, closing at 2,172.86.
