Overnight real estate rates climb

Long-term mortgage interest rates were higher Tuesday, and the benchmark 10-year Treasury bond yield fell to 5.02 percent.

The 30-year fixed-rate average increased to 6.21 percent, and the 15-year fixed-rate climbed to 5.87 percent. The 1-year adjustable inched up to 5.31 percent.

The 30-year Treasury bond yield slid to 5.12 percent.

Mortgage rate figures are according to Bankrate.com, which publishes nightly averages based on its survey of 4,000 banks in 50 states. Points on these mortgages range from zero to 3.5.

In other economic news, the Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 26.98 points, or 0.24 percent, finishing at 11,098.35. The Nasdaq dropped 14.09 points, or 0.65 percent, closing at 2,158.76.
