Smarter Agent, Sprint launch wireless real estate application

Real estate technology company Smarter Agent and Sprint have teamed up to launch a new location-based wireless phone application called Recently Sold Homes, the companies announced today.

The application instantly returns information — such as last sold price, last sold date, taxes and square footage — about the closest homes sold within the last three years. It uses a patented location-based technology so that users walking through a neighborhood only need to pull up the application on their phone and it knows where they are located.

“(O)nce you download the application, every time you engage it, your wireless phone automatically locates where you are and instantly provides you with recent sales data for homes around you,” said Smarter Agent CEO Brad Blumberg.

The Smarter Agent application also includes a GPS mapping function, enabling users to view their location and all of the recent home sales in the area on the same map. Users also can search by city and state to research multiple areas of interest, save properties to their phones or call an agent for live support.

Philadelphia-based Smarter Agent said it plans to launch a variety of real estate searches using Sprint and Nextel phones. The service costs $4.99 per month for unlimited searches, plus various data charges.

The company currently covers 180 of the 200 largest markets in the United States.
