Sotheby’s expands real estate network

Sotheby’s International Realty Affiliates Inc. announced the addition of three new franchise affiliates, including firms in Hawaii, South Carolina and Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula.

The new affiliates include:

  • Riviera Maya Sotheby’s International Realty in Mexico. This firm will serve the resort areas of the Mayan Riviera, including Playa del Carmen, Cancun and Tulum.

  • MacArthur & Co., on the island of Hawaii. This company was once a Sotheby’s International Realty affiliate under the brand’s previous marketing business model, and has chosen to join as a franchise affiliate, according to the Sotheby’s announcement. The firm will do business as MacArthur & Co. Sotheby’s International Realty.

  • Laissez-Faire Properties, a firm specializing in homes and farms in the Aiken, S.C., market. The affiliate, which operates in an equestrian hotspot, will do business as Laissez Faire Sotheby’s International Realty.

“We continue to be very pleased with the expansion of our global luxury real estate network,” said Michael R. Good, president and CEO of Sotheby’s International Realty Affiliates Inc., in a statement.

Sotheby’s International Realty, a franchise network created by Cendant Corp., is now a subsidiary of Realogy Corp., a company that spun off from Cendant this year as an independent, publicly traded company. Other Realogy company-owned and franchise real estate brands include Coldwell Banker, Century 21 and ERA, among others.

Sotheby’s has about 300 offices around the globe and a total inventory of about 12,000 properties.
