Northern California regional MLS doesn’t include San Francisco

Four Northern Caflifornia MLSs have formed a nonprofit corporation to share listings among 40,000 subscribers using common rules and fees — without the participation of the San Francisco Association of Realtors.

The Northern California Real Estate Exchange, or NCREX, announced the appointment of a 15-member board of directors Thursday, and said a database that uses common standards is in the testing stages.

NCREX’s members are Bay East MLS, Central Valley MLS, Contra Costa MLS and RE InfoLink, which represent MLS users in nine San Francisco Bay Area counties.

NCREX does not include the San Francisco Association of Realtors, which is working with two other MLSs to form a common data set while continuing to operate as separate entities. That venture, known as the Quattro project, will also represent about 40,000 MLS subscribers.

Last year NCREX members adopted a common set of MLS rules and regulations, created a common data standard, and implemented an interim data exchange program called MLSXchange, the group said in a statement.

Jeanne Garde, owner of RE/MAX Today and the 2006 chairman of RE InfoLink, said the incorporation of NCREX was “the culmination of tremendous effort, cooperation and dedication from brokers, Realtor associations and MLS organizations.”

Other MLSs “have participated in discussions and are welcome to formally join NCREX,” the statement said.

Garde was named to NCREX’s board of directors, along with Bill Aboumrad, RE/MAX Executive; David Barca, Keller Williams; Jeff Barnett, Alain Pinel; Mike Clancy, Security Pacific Real Estate; Bob Endsley, Coldwell Banker; Bob Moles, Intero Real Estate Services; Avram Goldman, GMAC Real Estate; Larry Knapp, Alain Pinel; Ed Krafchow, Prudential California Realty; Dennis Moreno, MGM Real Estate; Dennis Pagones, Harbor Bay Realty Inc.; J.R. Rouse, J.R. Rouse Real Estate; Mike Sibilia, Keller Williams; and Larry Spiteri, Intero Real Estate Services.
