Rubbermaid lease to bring jobs to SoCal

Atlanta-based Newell Rubbermaid has secured a 10-year, 407,612-square-foot lease for bulk distribution space at a logistics center in Victorville, Calif.

The value of the transaction was approximately $15 million.

The build-to-suit bulk distribution facility for Newell Rubbermaid, a global marketer of consumer and commercial products, is the first of several warehouse and distribution buildings to be developed during Phase I construction at the logistics center, Southern California Logistics Airport. Phase I development is being supported through a $350 million investment from Stirling Capital Investments, the property owner. Construction of the Newell Rubbermaid distribution building is expected to commence in the first quarter, and the company anticipates moving into its new facility in September 2007, creating approximately 150 new jobs.

Newell Rubbermaid will operate the company’s Graco unit, which manufactures infant and juvenile products, from its facility at SCLA.

“With land running out in Los Angeles, SCLA is strategically positioned to serve companies’ diverse logistical needs by offering air, ground and rail connections and the ability to move business into national and international markets,” said Dougall Agan, principal with Stirling and master developer of SCLA, in a press statement.
