Long-term mortgage interest rates rose further Tuesday, and the benchmark 10-year Treasury bond yield climbed to 4.81 percent.
The 30-year fixed-rate average edged up to 5.82 percent, and the 15-year fixed rate gained to 5.6 percent. The 1-year adjustable stayed at 5.37 percent.
The 30-year Treasury bond yield increased to 4.9 percent.

Mortgage rate figures are according to Bankrate.com, which publishes nightly averages based on its survey of 4,000 banks in 50 states. Points on these mortgages range from zero to 3.5.
In other economic news, the Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped 102.3 points, or 0.81 percent, finishing at 12,654.85. The Nasdaq was up 9.5 points, or 0.39 percent, closing at 2,459.88.
