Real estate rates steady overnight

Long-term mortgage interest rates were mostly flat Monday, and the benchmark 10-year Treasury bond yield dipped to 4.55 percent.

The 30-year fixed-rate average held at 5.69 percent, and the 15-year fixed rate slipped to 5.44 percent. The 1-year adjustable sank to 5.31 percent.

The 30-year Treasury bond yield was down at 4.7 percent.

Mortgage rate figures are according to Bankrate.com, which publishes nightly averages based on its survey of 4,000 banks in 50 states. Points on these mortgages range from zero to 3.5.

In other economic news, the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 42.3 points, or 0.34 percent, finishing at 12,318.62. The Nasdaq was up 14.74 points, or 0.62 percent, closing at 2,402.29.
