Texas-based Coldwell Banker firm expands to six states

Coldwell Banker United, Realtors, based in College Station, Texas, today announced an acquisition that expands the company’s operations to Florida.

The acquisition of Coldwell Banker JME Realty gives Coldwell Banker United, Realtors a total of 77 offices and about 2,450 agents in six states, including Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Texas.

According to a Real Trends Top 500 list, Coldwell Banker United, Realtors in 2006 ranked eighth nationally in transaction sides, and based on the acquisition would have ranked fourth nationwide, the company announced today.

Richard Smith, chairman and CEO for Coldwell Banker United, Realtors, said in a statement, that the acquisition “strengthens our company’s prominence nationally, as well as regionally.”

Coldwell Banker United, Realtors was founded in Bryan-College Station, Texas, by Richard Smith in 1970. Prior to the acquisition, the company had 55 residential branch offices, one commercial branch office and a sales force of about 1,900 sales associates.

The company’s sales volume in 2006 was $5.54 billion, which represented 27,029 transaction sides.

Coldwell Banker JME Realty began operations in 1984 and had 19 residential and two commercial offices, with about 550 agents.
