Real estate rates end night higher

Long-term mortgage interest rates inched up Wednesday, and the benchmark 10-year Treasury bond yield rose to 4.41 percent.

The 30-year fixed-rate average edged up to 5.94 percent, and the 15-year fixed rate gained to 5.59 percent. The 1-year adjustable rose to 5.64 percent.

The 30-year Treasury bond yield was up at 4.68 percent.

Mortgage rate figures are according to Bankrate.com, which publishes nightly averages based on its survey of 4,000 banks in 50 states. Points on these mortgages range from zero to 3.5.

In other economic news, the Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 16.74 points, or 0.13 percent, finishing at 13,291.65. The Nasdaq was down 5.4 points, or 0.21 percent, closing at 2,592.07.
