Overnight real estate rates post gains

Long-term mortgage interest rates were up Wednesday, and the benchmark 10-year Treasury bond yield dipped to 4.62 percent.

The 30-year fixed-rate average rose to 6.1 percent, and the 15-year fixed rate gained to 5.77 percent. The 1-year adjustable, however, fell to 5.73 percent.

The 30-year Treasury bond yield was down at 4.89 percent.

Mortgage rate figures are according to Bankrate.com, which publishes nightly averages based on its survey of 4,000 banks in 50 states. Points on these mortgages range from zero to 3.5.

In other economic news, the Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 99.5 points, or 0.72 percent, finishing at 13,878.15. The Nasdaq was up 15.58 points, or 0.58 percent, closing at 2,699.03.
