Mixed night for real estate rates

Movement in long-term mortgage interest rates varied Friday, and the benchmark 10-year Treasury bond yield rose to 4.17 percent.

The 30-year fixed-rate average held at 5.91 percent, and the 15-year fixed rate slipped to 5.47 percent. The 1-year adjustable sank to 5.45 percent.

The 30-year Treasury bond yield gained to 4.54 percent.

Mortgage rate figures are according to Bankrate.com, which publishes nightly averages based on its survey of 4,000 banks in 50 states. Points on these mortgages range from zero to 3.5.

In other economic news, the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 66.74 points, or 0.51 percent, finishing at 13,176.79. The Nasdaq was up 18.73 points, or 0.72 percent, closing at 2,637.24.
