Real estate rates end night mixed

Movement in long-term mortgage interest rates varied Thursday, and the benchmark 10-year Treasury bond yield climbed to 4.2 percent.

The 30-year fixed-rate average rose to 5.81 percent, and the 15-year fixed rate held at 5.39 percent. The 1-year adjustable rate dipped to 5.57 percent.

The 30-year Treasury bond yield edged up to 4.64 percent.

Mortgage rate figures are according to Bankrate.com, which publishes nightly averages based on its survey of 4,000 banks in 50 states. Points on these mortgages range from zero to 3.5.

In other economic news, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 44.06 points, or 0.33 percent, finishing at 13,517.96. The Nasdaq was down 2.65 points, or 0.1 percent, closing at 2,668.49.
