Overnight interest rates continue slide

Long-term mortgage interest rates continued a two-day slide Wednesday, and the
benchmark 10-year Treasury bond yield decreased to 3.48 percent.

The 30-year fixed-rate average decreased to 5.63 percent, and the
15-year fixed rate fell to 5.22 percent. Meanwhile, the 1-year adjustable rate increased to 5.65 percent.

The 30-year Treasury bond yield was down at 4.32 percent.

Mortgage rate figures are according to Bankrate.com, which publishes
nightly averages based on its survey of 4,000 banks in 50 states.
Points on these mortgages range from zero to 3.5.

In other economic news, the Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 49.18 points, or 0.39 percent, finishing at 12,527.26.
The Nasdaq lost 26.64 points, or 1.13 percent, closing at 2,322.12.
