DotHomes steps up street views

Real estate search engine DotHomes has added Google’s Street View application to U.S. property listings indexed at dothomes.com, the company said today.

The application enables home shoppers to get a complete view of a home and its surrounding streets as well as the overall neighborhood.

The announcement comes shortly after competitor Trulia implemented the Google Street View application for listings for homes in about 30 metro areas across the nation.

Both companies have said that in adding the application they aim to give consumers more information to aid in researching homes and neighborhoods.

DotHomes was recently launched by BytePlay, a London-based search technology company. The company is equity backed by three European early-stage venture capital groups, including The Accelerator Group, Arts Alliance and Samos Investment.

BytePlay focuses on the development of fast-scaling data-mining technologies for the Web.

DotHomes.com is the company’s first consumer-facing product – a real estate search engine which covers the U.K., South Africa and the U.S.
