Street views land on RealEstate.com

Real estate portal RealEstate.com has added Google’s Street View application to property listings indexed at the site, the company said today.

The application enables home shoppers to get a complete view of a home and its surrounding streets as well as the overall neighborhood.

"We’re really excited about adding the Street View feature from Google Maps to RealEstate.com because it provides our visitors a new and interesting viewpoint for their online real estate searches," said Greg Hanson, vice president of product excellence for RealEstate.com.

Street View imagery is currently available in more than 40 metro areas: Albany, N.Y.; Albuquerque, N.M.; Anchorage, Alaska; Austin, Texas; Boise, Idaho; Boston, Mass.; Chicago; Cleveland, Ohio; Dallas; Denver; Detroit; Fairbanks, Alaska; Ft. Worth, Texas; Houston; Indianapolis, Ind.; Juneau, Alaska; Kansas City, Kan.; Las Vegas; Little Rock, Ark.; Los Angeles; Madison, Wis.; Manchester, N.H.: Miami; Milwaukee, Wis.; Minneapolis, Minn.; Nashville, Tenn.; New York; Orlando, Fla.; Philadelphia; Phoenix; Pittsburgh, Pa.; Portland, Ore.; Providence, R.I.; Richmond, Va.; Rockford, Ill.; Salt Lake City, Utah; San Antonio, Texas; San Diego, Calif.; San Francisco Bay Area; Schenectady, N.Y.; Spokane, Wash.; St. Paul, Minn.; St. Petersburg, Fla.; Tampa, Fla.; and Tucson, Ariz.

RealEstate.com said it can now offer its visitors Street View access to home listings in approximately 500 cities within those metros.

Previously, visitors to RealEstate.com viewed an album of photographs including several inside and outside pictures of available properties. Now, where Street View imagery is available, a visitor will also see a "Street View" link located below the listing information where they can click and get a drive-by snapshot of the house and a 360-degree tour of the street and the neighborhood.

RealEstate.com, an operating company of IAC, provides access to nearly 2 million home listings, 97 million home values and more than 22,000 cities nationwide.

The company also operates RealEstate.com, Realtors, a company-owned real estate brokerage that operates in 15 markets with more than 800 sales agents.

Two additional online real estate companies — Trulia and DotHomes — have recently implemented the Google Street View application.
