RealEstate.com has added topography and traffic maps and neighborhood information among other enhancements to its real estate search tools, the company announced today.
Last month, the company added Google Street View tools that allow users to virtually tour an area by viewing digital 360-degree street-level images in some metro areas. Other real estate sites, including Trulia.com, DotHomes.com and PropertyMaps.com, have also integrated Google Street View into real estate searches.
Neighborhood data, such as statistics on crime, house prices, cost of living and commute times, are now available for about 22,000 U.S. cities at RealEstate.com, the company announced.
Users also have the option to view a neighborhood’s topography through the site’s new terrain maps, and the site’s new tools allow users to view traffic pattern maps supplied by Google Maps.
"House hunters in today’s market are savvier than ever, and demand detailed and current real estate information at their fingertips in seconds," said Greg Hanson, vice president of products excellence at RealEstate.com, in a statement.
Another new search feature at RealEstate.com allows users to narrow their property searches through a variety of filters without the need to restart the entire search at the site.
RealEstate.com is a part of IAC, a company that also owns LendingTree, the Home Shopping Network, Ticketmaster and online sites including Match.com and Ask.com, among other businesses. IAC has plans to spin off its real estate-related businesses, including LendingTree and RealEstate.com, as a separate, independent company. RealEstate.com, in addition to offering property search tools, also has real estate brokerage office operations in several states, and the company sells leads to a network of real estate professionals.
