First-place winners in 30 categories — including "Best Website" and "Best Blog" — will vie for a total of $9,000 in cash awards. A first-place award of $1,500 will go to the best overall individual entry, and $500 is available for the best freelance collection.

First- and second-place winners will be recognized in categories including: "Best Online Residential Real Estate or Mortgage/Finance Report," "Best Online Commercial Real Estate Report," "Best Residential Report in a Daily Newspaper," "Best Report in a Weekly Business Newspaper," "Best Spot News Report," "Best Home Design Feature," "Best Commercial Real Estate Magazine," and more.

The competition is targeted to recognize leading journalists from online news outlets; daily metropolitan newspapers; weekly business newspapers; mortgage publications; trade, shelter, business and personal finance magazines; wire services; and broadcast media.

Individual and team honors have included topics from the credit crisis, affordable housing, property taxes, investments and acquisitions, to disasters mitigation and sustainable urban design, new construction and remodeling.

All professional journalists, both NAREE members and nonmembers, may enter by visiting www.naree.org for entry forms.

Winners will be invited to NAREE’s Awards Banquet on June 19, 2009, and receive complimentary admission to NAREE’s Annual Journalism Conference in Washington, D.C., from June 18-21, 2009.
