2 San Francisco-area Realtor associations won’t merge

Two San Francisco Bay Area Realtor associations that were exploring the possibility of a merger have agreed to focus on expanding their collaborative programs and services instead.

The Bay East Association of Realtors and Contra Costa Association of Realtors, which have a combined membership of about 8,000 Realtors and affiliates, have concluded discussions and their boards of directors have decided against a merger, the Contra Costa Association said in a press release today.

"Instead, both associations have agreed to continue to focus their efforts on developing new and expanded collaborative programs and services for the mutual benefit of the members," the press release stated.

Bay East and CCAR were among the founding members of the Northern California Real Estate Exchange (NCREX), a plan to consolidate a group of Northern California MLSs (see story).

The plan, which also included REInfolink, East Bay Regional Data, Central Valley MLS and the San Francisco Association of Realtors MLS, was never fully realized, although RE InfoLink and Central Valley MLS merged to form MLSListings.com, which has about 18,000 subscribers.
