‘RED Day’ draws thousands of volunteers

An estimated 30,000 Keller Williams Realty associates across North America participated in the real estate franchisor’s second annual "RED Day," a day of community service, the company reported. Volunteers contributed an estimated 180,000 hours to RED (short for Renew, Energize and Donate) Day, held on Thursday, May 13, the company announced.

Among the projects that participants contributed to:

  • Agents in Woodbridge, Va., partnered with Habitat for Humanity to build a home.
  • Participants from an office in Syracuse, N.Y., assisted a local parks and recreation department in creating a community vegetable garden and pumpkin patch.
  • Volunteers in Austin, Texas, assisted with the restoration of a community theater and cleanup of a park.
  • Participants from offices in Southern California assisted with cleanups at Redondo and Hermosa beaches.
  • A RED Day event in Sacramento, Calif., focused on at-risk youth.
  • Participants at an office in Toronto, Calif., assisted local police and other businesses in removing graffiti and repainting buildings.
  • Many offices held food drives and blood drives.
