ColdwellBanker.com redesign exits beta

Coldwell Banker Real Estate LLC has relaunched its property search site, ColdwellBanker.com, to give consumers more ways to define what they’re looking for in a home and anticipate what properties they’ll be interested in.

The redesigned site, which has been in beta testing since December 2009, automatically identifies the user’s location and offers up properties for sale in the area, suggesting additional homes of interest based on those consumers have marked as preferred.

The site’s keyword-search function allows users to conduct "long tail" searches based on home attributes like "terrace" or "mountain view."

In a radical departure from other property listing sites, Coldwell Banker also offers a "BlueScape" search process that attempts to divine users’ house preferences by asking them to rate abstract images such as a life preserver floating in a swimming pool, shelves of books in a library, and a man standing next to a stream holding a fly-fishing rod.

The site also integrates video and social networking, providing access to more than 13,000 videos posted by agents on Coldwell Banker’s YouTube channel: Coldwell Banker On Location.

Additional site capabilities include:

  • "Join Us" — a recruiting resource enabling brokers to promote job opportunities and create local career pages.
  • "Learn" — real estate news and tips for consumers, such as real-time industry articles from the Associated Press.
  • "Home File" — A place for consumers to store, share and organize property searches, sales associate and real estate office information, and industry articles.
