Larry Knapp joins Proxio

International agent referral network Proxio Inc. has brought former Alain Pinel Realtors president Larry Knapp aboard as executive vice president.

Proxio partners with multiple listing services, brokerages and real estate organizations to extend their existing services, translate listings for local multicultural buyers, and give agents additional tools to find, connect and market to agents from other regions.

Launched in 2008, ProxioPro now claims more than 1.4 million registered agents in 95 countries and operates in 19 languages.

"Proxio’s mission is to answer the industry’s need for increased professional networking as well as multicultural and international marketing," said Janet Case, CEO and co-founder of Proxio, in a press release. "We are thrilled to have a person of Larry’s caliber and experience to help Proxio introduce the brokerage community to our unique and global services."

Alain Pinel announced Knapp’s departure and other management changes in December, with CEO Paul Hulme saying Knapp left the position he’d held with the company since 2003 "amicably."

In a 2008 interview, Knapp described getting into real estate in 1969, working his way up to become president of Coldwell Banker of Northern California in 1985. In 1997, he was named Western U.S. senior vice president for Cendant operating arm NRT Inc., directing the acquisitions and mergers of independent and boutique real estate brokerages in Northern California.

A past president of the Sacramento Association of Realtors, Knapp also served for seven years on the board of the National Association of Realtors (NAR), where he was appointed to NAR’s Executive Committee in 2008 and 2009.

He currently serves on the board of directors of the California Association of Realtors and MLSListings Inc.
