‘365 Things to Do in Vancouver’ wraps

Dale Chumbley, founder of the "365 Things to Do in Vancouver, WA" Facebook page, reached the last day of his yearlong project Thursday.

Chumbley, a licensed real estate broker at Prudential NW Properties in Vancouver, Wash., chronicled one activity, business or event in that city daily on his blog, Clark County Real Estate Guide.

"I’m thankful I committed to it and saw it through to its completion. I’m very proud of this accomplishment," Chumbley wrote in his 365th daily blog post.

The page has been "Liked" by more than 14,400 people and inspired real estate professionals nationwide to build similar pages about their own communities. Chumbley is a frequent speaker at real estate conferences and will be speaking at Inman News’ Agent Reboot event in Seattle on March 9.

"Everyone has been dying to know what the big finale is. What is Day 365?" Chumbley said.

"There really is no ‘finale’. There are 364 blog posts about great things to do in Vancouver plus tons of things I didn’t get to these first 364 days. So, today I encourage you to keep exploring this site. Keep exploring Vancouver (and surrounding cities). The things to do in Vancouver, Wash., never ends."

Chumbley will unveil changes to his blog on March 1 that will "build on what I’ve been doing and add back in some real estate," he told Inman News. Though he will still post things to do, he will no longer post seven days a week, he said.

For other real estate professionals thinking of taking on a similar project, he recommended that they produce similar local content, but not confine themselves to "365 things," which he called a "huge undertaking."

"They don’t have to put a number in front of it in order to create a strong presence within their community," he said.

And he will be taking the next week or so off from the blog. He is currently in Orlando, Fla., teaching at Sell-a-bration, an annual event held by the Council of Residential Specialists.

"I joked that I’d go to Disney World when I hit Day 365. I’m happy to say, I spent today at Walt Disney World Animal Kingdom all day (Thursday)!" he said.
