Smarter Agent acquires Toor.me

Mobile real estate applications company Smarter Agent has acquired mobile tagging and property tour startup Toor.me, the company announced Monday.

Toor.me provides individual listing websites optimized for mobile devices that include property details, unlimited photos, agent contact information, a map, and the ability to share a listing through e-mail, Facebook and Twitter.

Consumers connect to the websites, which the company calls "toors," through QR ("Quick Response") codes on agents’ marketing materials. The codes are similar to bar codes on retail merchandise.

"Every real estate yard sign should have an interactive mobile component to engage homebuyers," said Brad Blumberg, Smarter Agent’s CEO, in a statement. "QR codes attract attention and are a growing entry point for consumers to learn about properties."

With the acquisition, a particular "toor" will also include the ability to download the agent’s Smarter Agent app to see all listings in the local multiple listing service. Users may also be able to view toors from the app in the future, the company said.

The deal was finalized Friday. The companies did not disclose financial terms of the deal.
