House of the Week: A Cape Cod Compound to Rival the Kennedys’

Location: West Yarmouth, Mass.
Price: $12.8 million
The Skinny: Just across the mouth of Hyannisport Harbor from the famous Kennedy compound, these 9.52 acres of waterfront property offer the chance for a budding political dynasty to stake its own claim on Cape Cod’s southern coast. Though the property is not contiguous, the current owners seem to have chosen some of the finest property on the island to add to their portfolio.

There’s the 650 feet of private beach on Nantucket Sound and fronting on the sheltered Uncle Robert’s Cove with substantial dock. A secluded corner of the island features a stone watchtower/lighthouse and an inland plot with caretaker’s cottage rounds out the package.

Between the 1915 main house, a guest house, and that caretaker’s cottage, the property boasts 16 bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, and more than 10,000 square feet. That sounds like enough space for few generations to gather and hash out their plans for political domination.
