Top 20 real estate websites in March

Realtor.com reclaimed the top spot in a monthly report of the most-visited real estate websites in March, according to the latest rankings from Web metrics firm Hitwise.

Realtor.com bumped Yahoo Real Estate, which had held the No. 1 spot for four straight months, to No. 2.

Realtor.com’s market share rose to 6.51 percent in March, from 5.87 percent in February. Yahoo Real Estate saw its market share dip slightly, to 6.04 percent.

Zillow retained its No. 3 spot with 5.36 percent market share, up from 4.94 percent in February. Trulia and Rent.com each moved up one spot, to No. 4 and 5, respectively. Trulia’s market share rose to 4.63 percent while Rent.com’s market share stood essentially flat at 2.56 percent.

FrontDoor Real Estate, which had previously held the No. 4 spot, in part due to a sweepstakes competition that ended in mid-February, left the top 20 rankings.

Homes.com moved up two spots in March to No. 6, and MSN Real Estate kept its No. 7 spot. AOL Real Estate climbed eight spots to No. 8 — the largest monthly leap among the top 20 sites. ZipRealty and Apartment Guide retained their No. 9 and 10 spots, respectively.

Re/Max Real Estate moved up three spots to No. 11, with MyNewPlace moving down one spot to No. 12. Apartments.com kept its No. 13 spot while ForRent.com moved up one to No. 14. Rentals.com fell three spots to No. 15, while Weichert.com climbed four spots to No. 16.

Vacation rental site HomeAway and commercial real estate site LoopNet held steady at No. 17 and 18, respectively.

Listingbook Services moved up two spots and Redfin moved up three spots to the No. 19 and 20 spots, respectively.

The top 10 real estate category websites received 33.9 percent of category traffic in March, while the top 20 websites accounted for 44.1 percent of visits and the top 100 made up 70.6 percent of visits, each a slight decrease from February.

The average visit lasted 9 minutes, 13 seconds, a 13-second jump from February.

Six sites joined the top 100 in March: HUDHomestore.com, WhereForeclosures, HiddenListings, SibcyCline, Homebuyersassistant.com, and Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage.

These sites displaced homes.trovit.com, Forleasebyowner.com, ThatRentalSite, Texas Unclaimed Property, Condo.com, and www.ultraforeclosures.us.

The top 10 most popular real estate-related search terms in March were, in order, "realtor.com," "zillow," "remax," "zillow.com," "realtor," "century 21," "real estate," "trulia," "apartments for rent," and "coldwell banker."
