Zillow wins Webby Award

Property search and valuation site Zillow has won a Webby Award and its second "People’s Voice" award in the contest’s real estate category.

The Webby Awards honor "excellence on the Internet" and are now in their 15th year. The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences evaluates websites in nearly 70 categories based on content, structure and navigation, visual design, functionality, interactivity, and overall experience. A public, online vote elects a People’s Voice winner from among the nominees in each category.

Other nominees for the real estate category were Beirut Terraces, The New York Times’ Real Estate site, Trulia and HotPads. HotPads won the real estate Webby Award last year, when Zillow took home its first People’s Voice award.

ColdwellBanker.com was chosen as an "Official Honoree" in the real estate website category, as were PadMapper.com, RentJungle.com, SnapDigs, StreetEasy.com, The Savoye and Zoopla.co.uk.

Under a section dedicated to mobile technology, winners included foursquare, which won two Webby Awards and two People’s Voice awards, one each under "best use of GPS or location technology" and "Social: handheld devices"; and Flipboard, which also won one each under "News: tablets and all other devices" and "Social: tablets and all other devices."

Under "Productivity," Evernote was the Webby Award winner, while Dropbox was the People’s Voice winner. Dropbox also won a Webby Award and a People’s Voice award under "Services."
