Point2 signs up 5 more Realtor associations

Real estate listing syndicator Point2 says it’s added five Realtor associations representing 1,250 brokers and agents and more than 5,500 property listings to its syndication network.

With the rollouts announced Thursday, more than 240 multiple listing services and Realtor associations are now syndicating 1.1 million real estate listings through Point2 to more than 60 consumer portals, including  Zillow.com, Yahoo Real Estate, Trulia, Google maps, HomeGain, Property Shark, and Real Town.

The latest contributors of listings to the Point2 syndication network are the Taos County Association of Realtors (N.M.), the Aberdeen Board of Realtors (S.D.), the Carbon County Association of Realtors (Pa.), the Green Valley/Sahurita Association of Realtors (Ariz.), and the Venice Area Board Of Realtors (Fla.).

Canada-based Point2, the second-largest listing syndicator, was acquired by Yardi Systems in September, just days after Realtor.com operator Move Inc. completed a deal to acquire Threewide Corp., parent company of the largest listing syndicator, ListHub, for $13 million.

In a deal announced in April, property search and valuation site operator Zillow Inc. acquired listing syndication platform Postlets. In a regulatory filing in advance of a planned initial public offering, Zillow later revealed that it had paid $1 million and 700,000 shares of common stock to acquire Postlets in March.

At the time it was acquired, Postlets said it was handling more than 350,000 for-sale and for-rent listings.

In April, Zillow and Move announced a long-term agreement under which Zillow.com will continue receiving data on about 2 million listings from ListHub.

At the time, Move said ListHub was receiving listings from 358 real estate franchises and MLSs, up from 307 when it acquired the company, and that those listings were being distributed to 97 real estate portals, up from 79.

After Point2 was acquired by Yardi, it announced in December that it had entered into a marketing agreement with the California Regional MLS, allowing about 26,000 brokers and agents to automate the process of syndicating listings.

In April, Point2 announced the addition of 11 more MLSs and associations to its syndication network.
