MRIS revamps consumer real estate search site

Mid-Atlantic regional multiple listing service MRIS has once again revamped its free, public-facing consumer search site, the MLS announced this week.

HomesDatabase.com now allows consumers to save listings and assign them personal ratings and notes; receive email alerts when a saved listing’s status or price changes; view Walk Scores that rate the walkability of each listing; and see points of interest on a map, including schools, hospitals, transportation hubs and grocery stores. A new drawing tool also lets users view all listings within any area they trace out.

The site includes a separate search tab to find a real estate professional, and tabs for different property types, including all homes, foreclosures, and condos and townhouses. There is also a mobile version of HomesDatabase.com for access through smartphones and other devices.

MRIS’ last major revamp of HomesDatabase.com was in November 2008. The site originally launched in March 1999. MRIS plans to further update the site with eHarmony-like matching technology in September or October, John Heithaus, MRIS’ chief marketing officer, told Inman News in June.
