Re/Max launches international property search site

Franchise giant Re/Max LLC has launched a new website devoted to carrying “hundreds of thousands” of listings from more than 60 countries and territories around the world, the company announced last week.

The company’s announcement came on the heels of the rollout of Move Inc.’s Realtor.com International, which launched Nov. 3 with 4.4 million international listings and translation capabilities in 11 languages.

Global.remax.com offers residential and commercial listings in 30 different languages, including Arabic, Hindi, Chinese and Russian. Listing prices can be translated into eight currencies, including the British pound, the Brazilian real and the Indian rupee.

The site also features a feed of international real estate news. Countries featured on the site include Brazil, France, Italy, India, Portugal, the United States, Canada, Italy and New Zealand, among others.

“We’re seeing an increasing number of foreign buyers looking for property in the U.S. and American buyers looking overseas,” said William E. Soteroff, Re/Max’s executive vice president of U.S. and international regional development, in a statement.

“In countries like India, Brazil and China, as the population grows and incomes rise, families are searching for homes of their own and investment properties,” the company added.

The company’s international presence is also growing. Re/Max has nearly 90,000 agents in more than 6,300 offices in more than 80 countries around the globe. Total franchise sales rose 30 percent on an annual basis in 2010 and nearly 15 percent in the first half of 2011, the company said.
