Houston Realtors offer iPad app

The Houston Association of Realtors has followed up on its mobile property search application for Google’s Android platform by rolling out a new version for Apple’s iPad.

The 24,000-member association released an iPhone app in November 2010 and an Android app in late September. As with those apps, HAR’s iPad app doubles as a consumer-facing property-search portal and a members-only portable multiple listing service, the association announced.

The free app allows HAR MLS members to log in to access MLS data, their leads and listings, their brokerages’ listing inventory, showing instructions, days on market, and various MLS reports, the association said.

In addition, agents and consumers alike can use the app to search for-rent or for-sale homes in the Greater Houston area either by automatically searching for homes nearby or typing in an address, ZIP code or MLS number.

Users can filter searches by property type, price range, lot size, number of bedrooms and bathrooms, square footage and school district, among other criteria. Listing details include a property description, tax information, agent and broker contact information, driving directions, and up to 16 photos.

Registered users can also save listings and searches and sign up to receive email notifications when homes matching particular user-selected criteria are posted to HAR.com or when a saved listing’s status, price or other listing information is updated.

Other app features include a mortgage calculator, nearby open house search, and the ability to share listings via email.

HAR’s iPad app was ranked No. 94 in the Lifestyle category of the Apple App Store as of Nov. 21, according to apps-rating site TopAppCharts.com. The app was ranked No. 11 under the keyword "real estate." The app store does not have a real estate category.
