New HotPads mobile app allows agents to create listings

For-sale and rental property map-based search portal HotPads now allows users to post listings for free, regardless of the number of units a property has, and to create listings on smartphones via a new free mobile Android application.

While creating listings is now free on the site, apartment property managers can pay a fee to increase the visibility of their listings, the company said.

The HotPads Listing Creator app (available in the Google Play app store) allows users to create listings with photos and property details on the go and to post listings to Craigslist as soon as they’re created. The app also gives agents the ability to receive real-time lead notifications and track and manage leads.

At the end of last month, HotPads also announced a new "Trusted Listings" feature that highlights listings considered to be of the highest quality. These are listings that have been enhanced directly by a listing agent who has talked with someone at HotPads and is known to be responsive to customer inquiries. Trusted listings also tend to have better descriptions and more photos.

Earlier this year, HotPads released a Kindle Fire property search app, joining competitors Zillow and Trulia, who developed apps for the device last year.
