MRIS debuts mobile app

Rockville, Md.-based multiple listing service Metropolitan Regional Information Systems Inc. (MRIS) says it’s the first MLS in the Mid-Atlantic region to offer a mobile app for homebuyers and real estate professionals.

MRIS announced in June that it was partnering with developer Smarter Agent to launch its first mobile app. The free app released today, MRIS Homes, serves both consumers and the MLS’s 44,000 members, providing access to more than 55,000 active listings, the company said.

MRIS members will be able to sign in to the app to access deeper listing information than consumers, such as days on market and sales history, said MRIS spokeswoman Anne Hague.

Available for the iOS (iPhone, iPad), Android and BlackBerry platforms, MRIS Homes allows users to conduct map-based searches and share property info on social media networks including Facebook and Twitter.

Branded versions of the app are also available to MRIS member agents and brokers. For $10 a month, agents can brand the app and have leads directed back to them, instead of a home’s listing agent.

Brokers have two tiers of the branded app to choose from: an enhanced version for a single broker for $250 a month and a version for larger brokers, distributable to up to 500 agents, for $549 a month.

Other real estate companies also offer mobile home search applications with MLS-derived data, including third-party sites, such as Redfin, ZipRealty and Realtor.com, as well as other MLSs, including Sandicor, the Houston Association of Realtors (HAR) and NorthStar MLS.

Smarter Agent has developed mobile apps for a number of real estate franchisors and brokers including Century 21 LLC, ERA Real Estate, Sotheby’s International Realty, and Alain Pinel Realtors.
