Fight breaks out at HOA election meeting

A fight that broke out at a homeowners association meeting at a country club in Riverside County, Calif., sent two people to the hospital over the weekend, The Desert Sun reported.

Located between Palm Springs and Palm Desert in Rancho Mirage, The Springs Country Club is part of a gated community that includes a private, member-owned golf and tennis club.

The fight broke out after results of a board election were announced, and was serious enough that a security guard drew his gun but did not point it at anyone, The Sun reported, citing a Riverside County sheriff’s deputy.

"Some people were upset that a certain person won and began yelling at him and pushing him," Sheriff’s Deputy Myling Bordeau told the newspaper.

The yelling and pushing escalated to chair throwing, fist fighting and tackling, The Sun reported.

One of those taken to the hospital complained of injuries, and another suffered a seizure.
